One additional classic element for 2013 is a theme centered around a classically bad B-movie.<\/p>\n<p><em>The Horror of Party Beach<\/em> is a 1964 horror film intended to be &#8220;a take-off on beach parties and musicals.&#8221; What it ended up being is one of the 10 worst films of all time, according to <em>The Book of Lists<\/em>. It was also among the films in the 1978 book <em>The Fifty Worst Films of All Time<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Shot in black &amp; white on a miniscule budget in Connecticut, the film stars laughable creatures that are said to be derived from water plants and dead human tissue mutated from radioactive waste. The monsters become humanoid by attaching themselves to skeletons in a shipwreck, then proceed to hunt down and kill a series of comely young women. Director John Landis extols the schlock value of the film in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=8anjqj3hok0\" target=\"new\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Trailers From Hell<\/em> video<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The movie was also perfect fodder for <em>Mystery Science Theater 3000<\/em>, which featured it during season 8 in 1997:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/bKo6jV7kNNk\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=bKo6jV7kNNk\" target=\"new\" rel=\"noopener\">Montage (above)<\/a> | <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=rqpbFRD_D3k\" target=\"new\" rel=\"noopener\">Monster montage<\/a> | <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=ok_6xqqy9AQ\" target=\"new\" rel=\"noopener\">Full video<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Billed as &#8220;the first horror monster musical,&#8221; the film includes performances by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm2904310\/bio?ref_=nm_ov_bio_sm\" target=\"new\" rel=\"noopener\">The Del-Aires<\/a>, a surf\/garage group from New Jersey who play themselves as a local band. The band performed throughout the Northeast in the early &#8217;60s until they split up shortly after the movie was released, but can you blame them?<\/p>\n<p>Among the six songs they perform in <em>The Horror of Party Beach<\/em> are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=LVd0Ziks3NA\" target=\"new\" rel=\"noopener\">Zombie Stomp<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=2iDgTeNbEkc\" target=\"new\" rel=\"noopener\">Wigglin&#8217; Wobblin<\/a> (see below), a band original.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/2iDgTeNbEkc\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Former Del-Aires Ronnie Linares and Bobby Osborne reportedly still play together in Bonita Springs, Fla. The movie even inspired a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=sHL65N5UdHU\" target=\"new\" rel=\"noopener\">punk song by the same name<\/a> by Indiana&#8217;s Sloppy Seconds in 1989.<\/p>\n<p>For Hulaween, The Mai-Kai will be rockin&#8217; with the vintage sounds of South Florida&#8217;s <a HREF=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pages\/Skinny-Jimmy-and-the-Stingrays\/135933149753821\" TARGET=\"new\">Skinny Jimmy &amp; the Stingrays<\/a>, who will bring the required 1960s garage-surf vibe to the party.
