The Hard Richards
Formed in 1988, Voodoo Glow Skulls meshed hardcore punk, traditional ska, tough guitar riffs and the Mexican music of its roots to create the prototype for the West Coast ska-core sound. The band's long-awaited ninth studio album, "Break The Spells," will be released Jan. 17 on Smelvis Records. Founded in 1994 in Mesa, Ariz., Authority Zero sought to create a sound that paid tribute to its punk rock forefathers, but not be confined by musical barriers. The band released its fourth studio album, "Stories of Survival," in 2010 on the Suburban Noize label. A live album, "Less Rhythm More Booze," is due out Jan. 31.
