XS (now City Link) magazine ran a cover story on the first Slammie Awards but dwelled on the violence in the mosh pit. Just weeks after the show, the city of Hallandale officially banned slam-dancing.

Malevolent Creation headlined the '92 Slammies and won awards for National Release (The Ten Commandments), Vocalist (Bret Hoffmann) and Death Metal Band.

Rape Ape was one of the featured performers and took home the Band of the Year (Grand Slammie) and Thrash Band awards.
